WestSource Energy

The founders of WestSource Energy had a vision of developing green energy solutions including wind, solar, biomass, and storage. They have moved through the development stages of establishing a wind farm near Montmartre, Saskatchewan. Their innovation, "Snow and Ice Control" is in the early testing stages. 

The Challenge:

WestSource Energy had been working toward completing an energy resource assessment on their wind farm project. The development had stalled while looking for a potential customer of their wind power. WestSource shifted focus from large scale utility developments to providing commercial and residential green energy solutions. The team needed to develop a new business plan, attract new funding, and find ways to market their products and services. WestSource is working on a technology they call Snow and Ice Control, which collects solar energy from roadway surfaces and enables underground thermal energy storage.

Our Value-Add:

• Initiated dialogue with SaskPower about Power Purchase Agreements.
• Initiated contact with US-based companies who provide accurate forecasting to US wind farms.
• Advised on corporate structure ideas.
• Advised and provided guidance on marketing, sales, contract and product development.
• Introduced inventors to city, provincial, and industry officials, to determine an appropriate alpha- and beta- site for their Snow and Ice Control innovation, which collects solar energy on roadway services and uses the energy to warm the road enough to keep it ice-free.
• Assisted with the development of grant applications for various grantors

WestSource Solutions Inc.

WestSource Solutions Inc. (WSS) grew out of a corporate mandate to provide energy and conservation solutions, as well as analysis and design services, to the residential and commercial markets. In the short time since its inception, the young entrepreneurs who created the company have set a direction to provide simplified "hassle‐free" services, as specific products that can be purchased by its clients. These
product services are: Green Assessments, E3 ModelTM, Green Plan, Green PapersTM, Integrated Design,Hassle Free Implementation, and Operational Support. Commercial specific services include: Target Carbon NeutralTM, green energy system ownership and operation, project management, and LEED® Accredited Professionals (mid Q4, 2008). Future services include online troubleshooting and customer
financing.
